Play is the language of children and toys are their words. This makes play therapy an effective method of intervention especially for kids between the ages of 3 and 12. Adolescents, adults and families can also benefit from using play.

Play therapy is a type of counseling by which trained professionals use play based models and techniques to assist children to improve communiication, promote cognitive development, provide insight, and help resolve inner conflicts, dysfunctional thinking and disruptive behavior.

A Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) is a clinician with an advanced mental health degree and specialized training in play therapy. The RPT-S credential indicates that the professional has met the rigorous requirements set forth by the Association for Play Therapy (www.a4pt.org) and is qualified to provide supervision to other professionals going through the process of becoming Registered Play Therapists.
